Layer 3: Timber support frame on plastic stilts to prevent insulation from compressing and losing up to 50% of its thermal properties.

Assembly of a wooden greenhouse over the last couple of days for a client in Sutton.
No base frame was provided so one was built from 3x2 treated timber before the walls were assembled.
Glazed with polycarbonate panels, two vents were installed and also full guttering.
Customer very happy and wants me back to install driveway gate! 👍

Another recent decking job… this was an extension to a previous split level deck I built last year. Made somewhat more complicated by the parallelogram shaped footprint! Once the main sub-structure had been completed, each decking length had to be precisely angle cut to fit.

A decorating job from a few weeks ago, just not had chance to post! Three story townhouse in Macclesfield. Prepared all walls filling any dents and holes, masked off carpet including stairs, painted all ceilings and walls with vinyl matt and all skirting, 8 doors and other woodwork with satinwood.

Security alarm installation today along with a ring doorbell.
Multiple entry sensors and motion sensors installed throughout the property, along with the main base station, panic button and control keypad.

Making better use of this area in a garden, although a bit of an odd shape… framed out in 4x2 treated timber, with 18mm plywood used to create the new roof. Finished with heavy duty roofing felt and flashing to keep the water out. Then built on site and installed a custom gate, to hide all the children’s garden toys away!

Jet washing the deck at the front of our home… makes such a difference! Just needs oiling tomorrow…

Shed re-felting in the sunshine today. Roof sheets had not been installed correctly when first assembled so this was fixed first before fitting the new felt and wooden trims.

New loft ladder installation for this garage loft, to provide access to additional storage space.

A local Macclesfield Bowling Club required a new covered canopy area built at the side of the bowling green for spectators and players. Due to the uneven, sloping ground getting the levels would have been a bit challenging, without the use of a laser level!
4x4 corner and rear posts set in 2’ deep concrete, with a 6x2 framing, providing a total area of 6m x 3m cover. 3m long polycarbonate sheets were then added to cover the roof. 4x2 and 2x1 timber lengths were installed to cover the sides and back. The front was finished with lower side sections at the front including a useful shelf for score cards and drinks to each side.

A big loft insulation job here, with over 70 square meters of insulation to be laid, in some very difficult access areas of the loft space. Some areas had no insulation, so an additional 100mm base layer was added first, before the top-up 170mm layer was added.

This kitchen had suffered a severe leak from the dishwasher, resulting in the whole cabinet under the sink needing to be replaced, without removing the other cabinets, worktop or sink!
The old unit was carefully removed and a new cabinet installed, along with new door hinges dummy draw fronts and new kickboard.
However, it also transpired that the waste and overflow were also leaking as the seals had gone, so the whole assembly was replaced for new.

Not had chance to post some of the recent jobs, so here goes…. The week when the cold weather and snow hit, was the week in which I was outside completing this composite decking project! Despite the cold and snow showers, the decking was completed in the day and customer very pleased.

A serious flatpack day today, building this bunk bed structure with an integrated wardrobe and storage draws.

The roof of this lean-to building at the side of a house in Wilmslow had been added to several times by a home DIYer, but was different levels, flat in places and leaking terribly when it rained.
Roof was completely removed, new timbers installed to create on continuous length, 19mm plywood cut to accommodate the angular shape and then covered in heavy duty roofing felt. Finished off by a flashing between the roof and house wall across the full length. The drainpipe was also re-routed from going through the roof (a significant leakage point) into the front panel and down into the drain within the lean-to building. New guttering installed on the entire length. Client very pleased! ☺

These large double gates had literally been ripped of the wall in strong winds, splitting the timber post from the wall.
Old post removed from wall and new 4x3 post installed with concrete screws at multiple points for added strength.
Gates re-hung and aligned to complete the job.

Venetian screening was used to cover this block work retaining wall and made it look much nicer! 4x2 timbers bolted to concrete wall with horizontal timbers added in stepped arrangement to mirror blockwork.

Another loft boarding job here today… insulation was already installed as a new build house, but all needed to be removed to install the loft legs and timber supports, before being put back and then boarded over. Lots of additional storage for this young family! ☺
